Easiest thing might be to set up a blog style website, so most of the hard work is done for you. You can then change and alter the look as you go along.
Check out something like Wordpress (http://wordpress.org). As for hosting, I recommend Dreamhost (http://www.dreamhost.com/), a lot of bang for you buck and they have easy one click install for WordPress as a bonus.
I second the recommendation for Dreamhost. I use them for my personal website, and also recommend them to all the people I do web design for. I've never had a problem with them, and they have very generous disk space and bandwidth limits.

I like the design of these better than the G5, and I don't want to spend several hundred dollars more on something that I don't like as well.
I agree with you there, I ended up buying a 20" 1.25GHz iMac G4 a few months ago because I just couldn't bring myself to buying into the look of the G5 (I mean don't get me wrong, its not bad, I just love the G4's look). But you should know, assuming you buy the iMac G4 through apple.com refurbished, it really costs more than getting a refurbished G5 oddly.
Such as when I bought my iMac G4 three months ago, the refurbished G5 iMac was actually $50 cheaper and was 1.8GHz with 160GB compared to the G4 at 1.25Ghz with 80GB. So monetarily the G5 is a better deal, but for me I had to go form over function. :D Course if you go the ebay route you might get a better deal than apple offers so who knows in that respect.
So personally I say go for it. I honestly don't do anything really intensive on it but it does work flawlessly and have had no real problems with it. And since your not doing any huge video editing work, I see no reason you need all the extra speed, though the HD space would be nice, but you could always just get an external FW drive if you need it later.

This is MONTHS old... PCMag is quoting a ThinkSecret report from earlier in the year. Too lazy to find a link myself. :)
It's ThinkSecret, so I don't believe it. I do think it will happen, but not because ThinkSecret is saying it will.
Lasso? I don't get it.
Code name.
Really, really old news Think Secret report here:

just use Parallels or VMWare
Or DOSBox! I tried running a game under VPC 5 on a 400 MHz PowerMac G4. Too slow. So I then tried running it on a VPC 7 on a 1.25 GHz eMac. Still too slow. Then I tried running the game under DOSBox on the eMac. Ahhh, just right! Given that many of the games I still play are from the 80's or early half of the 90s, this works well for me, whether on x86 or PPC.
Another MS app which is being moved over as Universal app is RDC, which is probably my favorite MS application. I use this daily to work between my Mac and PC at work, and it works great, especially since I can use my second monitor for the PC, and still share both monitors for my Mac. A great VNC program for connecting to Windows. Too bad it can't connect to a Mac, also (I use Chicken of the VNC for that).

i was just on the apple site looking at a mac pro, and when i clicked on the apple page, for a split second i saw this blue ichat icon above the customer service number that said chat now!!! it only flashed for a second, and when i hit the back button, it was gone.
this may be the new customer service system.
here is a mock-up of what i saw, again i only saw it for a second so i am not too sure about the lateral placement. i know there was a iTunes 7 blue colored, vector looking ichat symbol and it said chat now. I saw the icon first, and ended my glance at with my eyes moving down towards the service number, so i didn't get all the visual hierarchy digested, but it looked like an ichat tech support service, maybe the will add this to the $50k apple care for servers gets you? fro

Hey guys,
I have a powermac g4 digital audio I believe, 700 mhz processor. I also have 2 powermac g3's I believe the fastest that created. 400 mhz or something like that. I have another g4 with the 350 processor that I can test the power control which with but it would be a pain because my grandparents are using it so it would take a while to get it unhooked/dug out, they use it as a paper holder behind a desk cords and everything are ran through the desk.
Here's my 3 questions:
1. The Powermac g4 when you push the power button it lights up but when you release it goes out. The logicboard does not respond. Should I buy a new power control module or is there a way to use the one from the g3, it looked different at first glance.
2. To run a home server is it better to run a g4 with the faster processor or a g3 with more ram, the g3 has 4 slots the g4 only 3.
3. Best way to use as a media server I was thinking put everything into itunes and use the homesharing, is that available in tiger? Is that the best way to do it?
It will be used with apple tv, macbook, powerbook, ibook, imac g5, xbox 360?
Thanks in advance for the advice.
Here's the short version:
1. Which powermac to use as a server?
2. Best way to do media server?
1.) The logic board is fried. (Don't buy a new one)
2.) Niether, you probably don't need a server and even if you do a G3 or G4 is simply to slow for the job. Buy yourself a bottom of the line Mac Mini with an external RAID 1 drive for your media server "needs". Also make sure you get 4GBs minimum on the RAM.
3.) Get 10.5/10.6 if you have intel and run something like Plex.
Cheers

Well then I would definitely say these 2 I found are both reproductions of some sort since they both have a copyright on them. I kind of figured that was going to be true as it seemed uncharacteristic of apple to mess up a piece of art with a copyright line. So they definitely are not worth the $80 and $60 they are asking for them. Maybe if I can get them down to $10 or something I might buy them. Thanks for your help and input.

The startup screen used to cause delays for some of my clients. Disable the startup menu. Click "Dont Show Again" on it if it finally loads. Try relaunching it after that.

What are the resolution options in those games? 11" MBA's screen is 16:9 while the resolutions you listed are 4:3, thus the black bars.

If you've see the keynote stream, then you'll of come across the part where Steve asked some of his employees (marketing, engineer etc..) to stand up and receive a round of applause.
I thought this was quite a nice gesture and it's the first time I have seen this from them.
Good things!! :claps:

Ok, I am interested in fooling around with making movies of my gaming, just think it would be fun.
I have the Mac and the DV Camera (or VCR) with S-Video input...but my Radeon 9000 does not have S-Video out.
If I were to put another card with S-Video out into my G4 I know I could output video...but could I output what was being rendered by my 9000??
See..I would not want to use a weaker card like the Radeon 7000 w/ vid out to play games, but I obviously cant use the 9000 to output the video.
Also, is there any alternatives to getting video streamed out of your Mac? I have a DV camera and Firewire...is there a way to stream right over that?

MS seems to have lost out on a nice little market due to dragging their feet so long with VPC. That being said, I think it's great that we no loger have to rely on MS to keep Windows (and other os's) running on Macs.

Thats a pretty drastic reaction for a misspelt word. The amount of wounds that he inflicted as well to that spelling mistake.

If I didn't believe we would get undercooked hardware, draconian over-control by Sony and way-too-high game prices (i.e. what we have now with the 4 released PSP's) ... I would be very excited.
Of course, I will still buy one at release ... just as I have done for the previous 4 PSP's! :D I might complain, but I do love my PSP ... though with the Go I now find it awful playing loud & slow UMD games ...
